Happy birthday to Jack Klugman, who turns 88 today. While Jack was 48 when "The Odd Couple" started, there is less clarity regarding how old Oscar was supposed to be. See the inconsistency on Oscar's Age for more info.
And if you don't already have the series on DVD, check out episode 57, Oscar's Birthday, on YouTube.
Adam Klugman was briefly interviewed as part of an article on MSNBC titled Spotlight can burn children of the famous.
According to this article at BuddyTV, the Odd Couple is one of ten shows that needs a remake. I'm not sure - it seems like it gets remade a lot already, just with different names: "Two and a Half Men," "Brother's Keeper," "George & Leo," etc.
Odd Couple fan Lee Spilberg pointed out to me that theater critic Dan Sullivan was also a person who played himself on the show, appearing alongside John Simon in "Two on the Aisle." He has been added to the list. Lee also wrote the very thorough list of DVD cuts that I have a link to on the FAQ page.
Lee also brought up something that has been mentioned before: Edward Vilella's son, Roddy Vilella, also appeared briefly as himself in "Last Tango in Newark." I didn't add him before, because I considered to be the list of famous (or at least semi-notable) people who played themselves. But if I want it to be an exhaustive list, maybe he should be added. What do you think? Leave a comment below or on the message board.
On the links page, I have a link for a one-minute video of Jack Klugman, from the PBS special "Make 'em Laugh.
